For modern, modular screening

In previous instalments of the Knowledge Hub, we’ve presented an overview of the various types of screens available and given you some advice about choosing the right screen for your requirements. It’s time now to be a bit more specific, and give you some concrete examples of modular screen solutions that can contribute to a safe, effective crushing and screening operation. The Sandvik SL, SJ and SA series are all newly designed screens that combine Sandvik’s years of experience with modern, modular design features.

Sandvik modular screening solutions

A key benefit of modular screens – that is, screens with screening media composed of individual modules or panels – is their versatility. This is one factor that Sandvik have optimized with their newest range of screens. The SL, SJ and SA series meet the needs of a wide range of applications (from heavy-duty scalping to final sizing), but equally importantly these screens are individually versatile. With all of these screens, changing the screening media type is straightforward and doesn’t require mechanical modifications. They also have adjustable spring pedestals and motion settings, making every unit suitable for multiple applications.

These ranges also have a series of smart features that make them easy to maintain. For example, they all have a version with significant space between decks for easy access, as well components that are long-lasting, standardized, and easy to replace. Let’s take a closer look at these screens, starting with the SL range.

SL Linear Motion Screens

Sandvik’s SL screens are high-performance, high-accuracy screens, that are outstanding in secondary screening and final sizing. They are also versatile and adaptable, so they can even be used for scalping ahead of crushers in mining applications.

These are horizontal screens, with a variable inclination of between -3° and 10°. This low incline means that feed material stays on the screen deck for longer, improving accuracy.

It also means that the SL can be set up in environments with low headroom. They have a variable stroke speed, and also a variable stroke motion: stroke length and stroke inclination can be adjusted.

The screening media can be easily changed too – decks can be equipped with any kind of modular, side-tensioned or self-supporting screening media, as well as with wire mesh or steel plate. The SL is available in one, two, or three deck models.

A series of clever design features makes the SL both easy to maintain, and allows for straightforward replacement of components. For example, the cross beams are attached to the screen body with huck-bolts, which makes them both secure and easy to replace (this feature can also be found on the SJ model, below). You can find out more about the SL range and examine the technical specifications here.

SJ Circular Motion Screens

This versatile and easily adaptable range of screens is designed for heavy-duty coarse, medium and fine screening applications. They are ideal for screening after primary and secondary crushing, as splitter screens to divide flows within a plant, and for final screening of a finished fraction.

These are inclined screens, which remain the most common and widely known screen type.

Feed material tumbles relatively quickly through them, which improves stratification and reduces pegging. The screen inclination can be adjusted between 15° and 20°.

The stroke length and rotation speed of the circular motion are adjustable too. The decks (two or three deck versions are available) can be equipped with any kind of long lasting synthetic modular, side-tensioned or self-supporting screening media, as well as with wire mesh or steel plate. With a wide variety of options and adjustability these screens can be optimized for a huge variety of applications. More details and specifications can be found here.

SA CIRCULAR MOTION SCREENS

Sandvik’s new SA range of screens is specially designed for medium and fine screening applications, and are particularly well-suited to the quarrying industry. They are economical, adaptable inclined screens, which are ideal for screening after primary and secondary crushing, as a splitter screen to divide flows, and for final screening of a finished fraction.

The inclination angle is adjustable (between 15° and 20°), as is the rotation speed and stroke length.

They are optimized for tensioned media use, and their decks (two, three, and four deck designs are available) can be equipped with any kind of modern synthetic side-tensioned screening media or wire mesh.

This range offers both versatility and value. The low up-front cost, easy-to-replace screening media, and long lifespan make it an attractive choice. You can find more detailed information about the SA series here.
